Question 4: 10 marker Choice of theory. The Guardian:  A broadsheet which sometimes can be called quality tabloid.  Brand identity of The Guardian - white font, blue background. Typical broadsheet conventions seen on The Guardian covers: high ratio of text to photography. significant central image - which normally relates to hard news. Normally an elaborated language code - links to the idea of the target audience being educated. Formal mode of address. Hard news = politics, economy, health, education Normally has stories linked to culture, arts, film in the masthead, so it's not just hard news.

Monday 9th May 2022 News: exam format L/O: to understand the exam format for the news unit. Question 1 - Analyse 2 sources in terms of either media language or representation. The sources will be from a tabloid and the quality press with only 1 being a set product. May ask you to use a specific concept or theory. Shoot out + Evaluation

Shoot out Evaluation L/O: to reflect and evaluate skills development. Explain the task you were given and what you needed to consider. We were given a task to plan, film and edit a shoot out in a western style. Explain which conventions you attempted to use and whether they were successful. I used western sounding music and featured a dead body and the person being shot.  How does your media product convey a clear narrative? The narrative that I was intending through the shots were where the 2 people do not get along and the stand off and using 2 close ups of each of their faces was so that it wasn't obvious who was going to win as they were both expecting themselves to win. What did you do successfully and what would you need to improve/ consider if redoing the task? If I were to look at this again I would make sure more of the shots were in focus and certain parts of the filming process was better organised.
