A broadsheet which sometimes can be called quality tabloid. 

Brand identity of The Guardian - white font, blue background.

Typical broadsheet conventions seen on The Guardian covers:

  • high ratio of text to photography.
  • significant central image - which normally relates to hard news.
  • Normally an elaborated language code - links to the idea of the target audience being educated.
  • Formal mode of address.
Hard news = politics, economy, health, education
Normally has stories linked to culture, arts, film in the masthead, so it's not just hard news.
