Skills Task Evaluation
L/O: to reflect and evaluate skills development.
Introduction:
For my album I chose to link 3 different music genres together. The 3 genres I chose were Pop rock, Alternative rock and electropop. I chose to aim my album at people my age, 16, as its the type of music that I like and the type of album cover would interest me.
Question 1:
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?:
I researched many different covers of the genres and the ones I found that I like the most were the ones that I had provided on my blog page. I feel like it doesn't match to many of the conventions of the genres that I chose and I feel I had let my imaginations go off on one and forgot to match all of the texts together.
Question 2:
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I didn't really think to much about representations about the artist and I kind of just went with what I felt worked well with my images so the name of the band and the name of the album all came from what I thought worked well with the album which was chaos and the idea of having under control as it works very well and similarly and the more I worked on it the more that I saw it linking quite well to Sherlock which is full of chaos and solving it all out so with it being under controlled worked and represented the images very well.
Question 3:
Looking back at your skills task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from research to the final product?
Looking back on it there is a lot of room for improvements with including stuff like social media accounts and links to websites and where you can buy tickets to the tour and all types of stuff like that. Looking back I could also have tried to stay more on track and inline with the conventions of the genres that I chose to focus on. Thinking back to it now I feel if I tried to focus on just the one genre I probably would have been able to stick to the conventions of that genre.
Through this I have learnt that making things look similar and match is very important as else it would look odd and would not represent the same thing which could become confusing to the audience and would consist of a lot of researching and checking which wouldn't be something people enjoyed doing.
A strong evaluation. Don't forget, you'd have used genre conventions to represent he band.
